Knitting a Door Mat
I have started making a door mat it will probably be mine and to put at my back door. It is about 13" length with 30 cast on stitches and about the width of the door though not as wide. I quite like the mix of colours and how it is taking shape with different lengths of strips making the pattern. It is knitted in stocking stitch, plain and purl.
I could have finished it in no time if it were not tee shirts strips I was knitting with as these take more effort to knit, the texture is nice and firm though. Then there is the cutting tee shirts into about one inch strips which I quite like as I have a nice sharp scissors with which to do it. I think I have about ten inches to do so won't take too long. And it cost practically nothing to make as I used old tee shirts from a charity shop. I am all for recycling and up cycling into something else useful and good.

What a jolly mat and such a resourceful idea to use old t-shirts!

Looks so much fun. Love the colors and the texture. It is a great way to use old up old t-shirts.
